A Better Finder Rename
Rename hundreds of files, photos and songs at once
The verdict
A Better Finder Rename changes the names of many files in one pass and shows every new name next to the old one before anything is touched. It handles photos, music tracks and ordinary documents, and it can pull dates and camera details from the files themselves to build names like 2026-10-29 Paris 001. If you rename folders full of IMG_ files by hand, this replaces an afternoon with a few clicks.
Get it if
You regularly rename photo shoots, scanned documents or music folders and want to see the result before it happens.
Skip it if
You rename a handful of files now and then. The Finder's built-in Rename option covers that for free.
What it helps you do
- Rename a whole photo shoot in one pass
- Preview every new name before applying it
- Number files in a clean sequence
- Save a rename recipe and reuse it
