The best clipboard managers for Mac

Paste is the clipboard manager to buy if you work across Mac and iPhone, and Maccy is the best free one.

Our pickPaste app iconPastePick it if you copy on your iPhone and paste on your Mac many times a day. From $3.99

Paste keeps everything you copy and syncs it across Mac, iPhone and iPad, and it can search the text inside screenshots, for $3.99 a month or $99.99 once. Maccy is the free, open source pick if you only copy on 1 Mac. PopClip is a different tool, an action bar above selected text rather than a clipboard history.

The picks, in order

  1. 1Paste app icon

    Paste

    From $3.99Our pick4.2

Pick it if you copy on your iPhone and paste on your Mac many times a day.

At $29.99 a year or $99.99 once, Paste costs more than most clipboard managers, and the money mostly buys sync between your Mac, iPhone and iPad. It saves everything you copy, finds text inside old screenshots and pastes queued items in order. If you only copy on a Mac, the free Maccy or the clipboard history built into Raycast covers the basics.

  2. 2Maccy app icon

    Maccy

    Free, open sourceBest free

Pick this if you work on 1 Mac and want a free history you search without touching the mouse.

The same open-source clipboard manager is free on GitHub and $9.99 on the Mac App Store. Maccy keeps your copy history a Shift-Command-C away, searches it as you type and drops copied passwords when your password manager clears them. Everything stays on your Mac with no sync, so Paste is the better pick if you want your history on your iPhone too.

  3. 3Pastebot app icon

    Pastebot

    $39 once

Pick it if you paste the same addresses and code daily and want saved snippets plus paste-in-order stacks.

Maccy gives you a free, searchable clipboard history, and Pastebot is what you pay for when that stops being enough. Filters clean up text before you paste, custom pastebins hold the snippets you reuse, and a stack pastes several copied items back in order, all from Shift-Command-V. At $39 direct or $24.99 a year in the App Store it costs a lot for clipboard history alone, and version 3 needs macOS 26.

  4. 4PopClip app icon

    PopClip

    $12 once

Pick this if you want search, translate or plain-text paste right above any text you select.

Where the right-click menu needs a second click and a hunt through a list, PopClip shows text actions in a small bar the moment you select something. Its library of 253 extensions adds unit conversion, paste without formatting, translation and sending text to Things or Obsidian. The $12 license covers 5 Macs but only 2 years of updates, so the $32 lifetime license is the better buy if you plan to keep it.
