Wymark
A Markdown editor with Word-style track changes
MacFree
The verdict
When an AI tool or a colleague rewrites your Markdown draft, you usually get a whole new file and no idea what changed. Wymark shows each edit as a tracked change you accept or reject, with comments stored inside the plain Markdown file on your disk. It is a polished WYSIWYG editor with no cloud and no account. It is still a beta, so expect missing pieces and no word yet on future pricing.
Get it if
You write in Markdown and regularly hand drafts to Claude, ChatGPT or an editor for revisions.
Skip it if
You write alone and never compare versions, where iA Writer or Typora feel more finished.
What it helps you do
- Review AI rewrites change by change
- Compare a draft with last week's version
- Keep comments inside the Markdown file
- Accept or reject edits from a Git branch
