Loop
Move and resize windows with one key and a flick
MacFree, open source
The verdict
If you rearrange windows dozens of times a day, Loop replaces dragging with a gesture: hold a trigger key, flick the mouse in a direction and the window snaps to a half, quarter or third. A radial menu previews where it will land. It is free and open source, though Rectangle suits you better if you prefer plain keyboard shortcuts, and macOS itself now tiles halves when you drag to an edge.
Get it if
You arrange windows all day and want a faster move than dragging them to the screen edges.
Skip it if
You split the screen in halves now and then; macOS tiling by dragging to an edge covers that.
What it helps you do
- Snap a window to half the screen instantly
- Move windows to another display with a shortcut
- Preview a layout before you commit to it
- Tuck windows away at the screen edge
