TrellisWM
Docks, nests and tabs your Mac windows together
The verdict
Instead of snapping windows to fixed halves and quarters, TrellisWM docks your real Mac windows inside each other, as deep as you like, and lets you pinch to zoom out over the whole desktop. Drag a window to an edge to dock it, drop it on another window to stack them as tabs, and save a layout to a shortcut. The free version covers 5 docked windows per display, and Pro removes the limit.
Get it if
You work with lots of windows at once and want them grouped into tabs and nested panes you can zoom across.
Skip it if
You only want to snap 2 windows side by side. Rectangle is free and does that with less to learn.
What it helps you do
- Tab any 2 Mac apps into 1 window
- Zoom out to see every window at once
- Save a window layout to a shortcut
- Resize 2 windows by dragging the gap
