Launch video for your app
Last updated · Facts checked against each project's own pages on 22 Oct 2026
A launch video for your app is a 25 to 35 second film with your real screenshots in device frames, your brand colours and music that hits on the reveal. Useful Studio's /studio-launch makes one as 16:9 and 9:16 MP4s from 1 typed line on a Mac.
What a launch video needs
- A hook in the first second. Say what the app does before you say its name.
- One idea on screen at a time. Each scene shows one thing.
- Your real screenshots. The film shows the app people will actually open.
- A reveal and a clear ending. The last frame shows the name and where to get it.
An agency quotes around $3,000 for 30 seconds of motion design. Most indie launches ship with a screenshot instead.
How to make one with Useful Studio
- Run /studio-setup once. About 5 minutes. No admin password.
- Run /studio-brand once. It saves your app name, logo, colours, fonts and tone, and cuts the white box out of a logo.
- Run /studio-launch. Answer a few plain questions about the app. Add your screenshots, and they appear inside device frames.
- Pick a style. Ask for paper, neon, retro, editorial or any of the other 12 by 1 word. It stays in your colours.
- Collect the files. You get a 16:9 film for Product Hunt, YouTube and your site, and a 9:16 cut for Reels and Shorts. Most runs take 10 to 40 minutes.
The gallery has a launch film made from 1 prompt (a 23 minute run) and the Useful Studio launch film itself. Watch them on the Studio page.
Where to use it
- Product Hunt, your site and YouTube: the 16:9 film.
- Reels and Shorts: the 9:16 cut, plus a 15 to 30 second loop from /studio-reel.
- App Store and Google Play: /studio-appstore makes previews from your own screen recordings at every required size. It comes with Studio Pro at $349.

Limits to know before you start
- Short only. A launch film runs 25 to 35 seconds.
- No AI images. It animates your screenshots and drawn graphics. It does not generate pictures or footage of people.
- Mac only. macOS 14 or later, with Claude Code on a paid Claude plan.
Ship your launch with a film, not a screenshot.
