I turned a side project into the #1 Apple blog on Medium.

I'm Raja. I run The Useful Media Co from Chennai, India: four brands, 30+ products, one iPhone app on the way, and one person doing all of it.

Ten years from a nights-and-weekends blog to a full-time company.

Scroll to follow the line.

  1. The first Apple post

I started writing about iPhones and Mac apps on Medium at night, after a full day at an early-stage startup.

  2. 500+ articles later

The Useful Tech grew into the most followed Apple blog on Medium, with 78K+ readers.

  3. Full-time

I left my job and turned the blog into The Useful Media Co, with four brands under one roof.

  4. Newsletters and a shop

The Useful Tech and The Useful Life newsletters launched, and the Gumroad store passed 30 products.

  5. Wristkeeper

I'm building my first iPhone app, for people who collect watches the way I do.

Three rules every post, product, and partnership has to follow.

#1

Useful the same day

If you can't use it today, it doesn't get published. A setting, an app, a habit, or a system you can copy.

#2

Sponsors are labelled

Paid placements are marked clearly, so you always know what's an ad and what's my pick.

#3

I sell what I use

Every guide and template starts as a system running on my own Mac before it goes on Gumroad.
